Brothers for Brothers
Cancer seems to be touching everyone but when it strikes to young guys in their prime it touches more deeply.
Two friends of mine have been diagnosed with cancer and are in a fight for their lives.
To raise funds and get together to share what’s really important in life we are all gathering together to play in a full competition game in the Suburban rugby Competition playing for my old Club Knox Old Boys as their 3rd grade team for the day.
The game is on Saturday August 25th and is Kicking off at 11.40am.
We are gathering 30 plus ex players who played at the club from 2001 to present and the goal is that our yesterdays hero’s that take the field get sponsored per minute they are on the field. Some of the players have not played in many years but when the call came out many have jumped straight on board to risk life and limb for the cause.
Opening in 2013 The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse at RPA will integrate clinical care, research, education and integrative therapies, creating opportunities for innovative research, compassionate holistic care and better outcomes for patients, their families and carers.
Tim Cussell was a fit, rugby player and sports enthusiast when in 2010 he was diagnosed with stage three bowel cancer, that had spread into two lymph nodes. Today, four years after Tim noticed his first symptoms, he is passionate about raising awareness of bowel cancer and the importance of the Lifehouse holistic approach. Like Chris O’Brien, the founder of Lifehouse and fellow cancer sufferer, Tim is using his personal experience to raise awareness and support for cancer patients and their families.
Lachlan Robertson is just 33 and with an 8 month old daughter. He has Oesophageal cancer and is currently undergoing Chemo and is very positive after some early scans showing some reductions in his tumours. Lachlan is desperate to get on the field with his 3 other older brothers this and take the kick off. The club has never featured 4 brothers in the one team and on this day the hope is we achieve it.
Dad John is even hitting the gym to appear for a few minutes to ensure we really hit some record books as a father son combination. At 65 years and full contact this will be a sight for all to see and is in the gym toning up for the big day.
We are also on the look out for Corporate sponsors to get on board and in return for donations will receive a fully framed special match jersey which will have your logo on it and also will have photos encased to remember this day and your support.
Every dollar raised will go to lifehouse and make a difference to many lives in the future.
Below is a form you can complete to claim a fully tax deductable donation receipt will be sent to you or your business.
We thank you for your kind support and making this game of rugby one for the ages.
